Use A Resort Living Exercise To Change Your Life

For almost a decade, my wife and I have been practicing a mental model we call our “Resort Living Exercise”. We’ve created a pretty simple process, and we’ve used it so often, that it made living in our home seem more and more like life on our most wonderful vacations. After a few years, home became so optimized and comfortable, that even when we do take trips (which was pretty often before Covid), many times we have left early, especially if things weren’t working out well, and come home to just hang out. When life is better at home, that’s where we head.

Ditching the last day blues…

Our trips didn’t used to end this way. The last day was always miserable. We had stayed at these great places, had time to enjoy things and splurge on experiences, and now, we had to face that tomorrow is back to our house and our every day life. We would get sad, and talk about what we would miss from our trip. When the last day blues hit with two or three days left on the trip, we knew we had to do something about it. So, my amazing wife and I decided to try an experiment to see if we could kick the last day blues to the curb.
