My Best Purchase Under $100 in 2022

Given how much I love to try and play with technology, folks often ask me what things I use the most or get the most value from. I have talked in the past about how I approach technology purchases, but I thought I’d also start discussing when the approach or a great piece of technology exceeds my expectations. Looking back over 2022, one purchase, in particular, stands out.

Trying new technology is easy today, with nearly everything at your fingertips online.

I am a water kid. I swim, snorkel, kayak, and generally play in the water with a significant amount of my spare time. That often includes hot tubs, pools, the ocean, and the occasional lake and/or river. Pool time is a significant part of my exercise routines, where I spend a lot of time swimming laps or water walking for extended periods. While I greatly enjoy being in the pool, the endless repetition of it can make it less fun and stimulating than you might think. Mindfulness aside, it can get boring.

The pool I use the most is not overly conducive to using something like a bluetooth speaker. The pool is very large, so the speaker would have to be loud enough to disturb my neighbors or other folks if they happened to be using the community pool simultaneously. But I wanted to listen to music and, more importantly, book summaries, online lectures, and podcasts while I swam. I knew a solution had to be out there since I couldn’t be the only person with this desire.
